4 STEPS FOR GENERATOR INSTALLATION
Step 1: Select a location.
You can choose a place for the generator with the aid of a free on-site quote. The area should adhere to the following rules:
A) Area that is stable, well-drained, and won’t flood.
B)Space for the technician and maintenance staff to work around the generator.
C) When selecting a location, take into account neighbourhood and homeowners association limitations.
Remembering approximate clearances.
36 inches (3 feet) in front of the generator for the service room, 18 inches (1.5 feet) from the house, and 120 inches (10 feet) from doors, windows, and fresh air intakes. Ontario Rules.
You will save more on installation costs the closer the generator site is to a natural gas line and the electric meter or main electrical panel.
Step 2: Pad Installation
Set up a concrete slab or gravel pad on the site. Place the generator on the gravel or concrete slab. We can provide a pre-built generator pad .
Step 3: Connecting the electrical and gas
You need a gas contractor to connect your natural gas, or propane connection.
We install the transfer switch adjacent to the main electrical panel or meter base. Hydro One or Hydro Ottawa will be on-site to disconnect power to the house.
The transfer switch determines when to switch to generator power based on the source of the power.
Step 4: Test the Generator
We verify that everything is functioning properly.
Establish a weekly self-test to make sure everything is still operating normally.
